Trek to Ratangad by Nomad Adventures - 23rd & 24th November 2019

Fort Info:

Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle and was one of his favorites.

The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. There is a natural hole in the mountain top probably caused by wind erosion. It is 10 feet high and 60 feet wide. Due to its shape it is called Nedhe (needle hole).

From the top of the fort neighboring forts like Alang, kulang, Madan gad, Harishchandragad, Patta & sandhan valley are seen easily. The view of entire Bhandardara dam (Lake Arthur) gives sheer pleasure.

The fort is 400 years old and the main attraction at Ratanwadi is the Amruteshwar Temple, famous for its carvings, dating back to the Hemadpant Era - roughly from the eighth century

(If you miss the train you miss the trek so make sure you are on time to catch the train.)

01:45 AM - mini break at Kasara (restroom)

02:00 AM - Kasara to Samrad village (two and half hrs. journey in jeep)

04:30 AM - Refreshment at village

05:30 AM - introduction and power breakfast

06:30 AM - Fresh up and start the ascend towards Ratangad

09:30 AM - Reach Top and Explore the Fort

10:30 AM - Start Descending

01:30 PM - Reach Base Village and have lunch

02:30 PM - Start our Return Journey towards Kasara.

07:00 PM - Reach Mumbai (approx.)
