Salher & Salota are twin forts in baglan region of Nashik district. Salher is the highest fort and second highest mountain in Maharashtra. Rich with ancient ruins, Salher also houses a Parshuram Temple and an artificial lake. It is said Lord Parshuram did his meditations here. Salher is also famous for its battles during Shivaji Maharaj's period. It is also noted that after raiding Surat, the valuables were first brought here. Salher was an important fort as it is located on ancient trade routes. Salota has three entrances still standing strong. There are hardly any ruins on top of the fort. The views of Salher from top of Salota are mesmerising.
