Home bakers in Bengaluru can showcase their amazing baking talent by taking part in the cake competition* to win some exciting prizes. Everyone will get a chance to learn from the experts of the home baking industry and build their network.
Baking Suppliers will get chance to set up stalls and bring in the latest tools/products/ technology for home bakers.

Registration fee:
- Rs. 1500 per entry (Expert and/or Cake Competition for all categories except parent and child category)
- Rs. 2000 per entry (Cake Competition for Parent and Child Category)
- Rs. 1200 per entry for students (Students needs to (1) mention their college ID card number in the form, (2) carry their ID proof on the event day. In absence of ID card the student will not be allowed to enter the event and the booking amount will be forfeited)

Cake Competition details
Theme 1: Parent & Child category - Healthy bites
- This competition is for any ONE parent (Mom OR Dad) and ONE Child .
- Child’s Age : 8yrs - 17yrs. Proof of age may be required to claim the prize.
- Each team will bring a homemade pre baked healthy baked product.
- It cannot be smaller than 8” (round) or 8” (square).
- Each team should submit only one entry.
- No Frosting/ Decoration/ Unhealthy ingredients (eg: Maida/All purpose flour) should be part of recipe.
- A print of the recipe to be displayed next to the cake.
- Both the members of the team should be present during prize distribution.
Theme 2: Advanced Category – Karnataka
- This category is open for advanced/expert bakers
- Your cake could reflect food, lifestyle, places, handicrafts, monuments, etc.
- A photograph of your inspirations must be presented beside the Cake in a frame.
- The cake may be of any shape and design, covered with sugar paste, royal icing, buttercream or fresh cream.
- Cakes may be of one or more tiers or of a unique design.
- Dummies may be used but should reflect what is possible in real cake.
- Decorative work may include any edible medium. A brief write up/description of the cake, your inspiration etc. (limited to 100 words only) should be displayed beside your cake.
- The Exhibit base is to fit within a 12 inch and 14 inch square.
- There is no height restriction.
- There will NOT be a tasting component.
Theme 3: Intermediate Category - General Celebrations Cake
- This category is open to all.
- Your cake must reflect any celebration for e.g., Bridal shower, baby shower, birthday anniversary etc.
- All cakes must be real edible cakes.
- The base board should not exceed 12 inch x12 inch.
- This category will include a taste (degustation) element as well.
- Styrofoam may be used when absolutely necessary and in small percentage.
- Please mentioned whether the bake is egg or eggless.
- Recipe to be displayed beside your bake.
Theme 4: The Signature Cake - Rustic
- This category is open to all.
- Your signature cake - it’s the recipe that never lets you down and you do best...
- Please mentioned whether the cake is egg or eggless.
- Recipe to be displayed beside your bake.
- Minimum of 1 kg should be displayed
- The base board should not exceed 10 inch x 10 inch.
- This category will judged only based upon taste, texture, moistness, ingredients used and presentation/plating.
Competition Rules and Regulations for all categories:
- Only ONE 1 entry per person per category is allowed.
- Participants willing to take part in advanced category need to send the pictures of their best 3 cake works to the event team (info@homebakers.co.in) with the subject line as “Participation for Advance Category | The Great Bengaluru Bake Show”. The team will be shortlisted if the entry is qualified for the advanced category.
- Preparation: CAKE SHOULD BE PREPARED and/or DECORATED AT HOME and only need to be displayed at the venue.
- Please note: Any withdrawal from the cake competition will enforce the cancellation of the booking for the expert sessions.
- Registration fee is non-refundable. Once registered, the amount can't be refunded under any circumstances (unless the event is preponed, postponed or cancelled).
- Closing Date: The closing date for all entries is 20th Jan 2019.
- Delivery of Exhibits: All exhibits must be presented at the time and day specified. Each participant will register on arrival and be allocated space to position their exhibits. Each participant will be given 45 minutes to repair and arrange their exhibit for any damages incurred in transit.
- Timing: The competition opening timings will be 10AM. The exhibits need to be on display till 5 pm.
- Set up time: Participants can start setting up their Cakes by 9 AM. The cake display should be ready by sharp 9:45 AM. Entries beyond 9.45 AM won’t be allowed for extra set-up time.
- Do not use any ADULT/NAUGHTY/RELIGIOUS /POLITICAL elements in your creation.
- Judging: Judging will take place once all exhibits are ready.
- Judging parameters:
- Parent & Child: Taste, texture, moistness, ingredients used and presentation/plating.
- Advanced: Creativity, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance, Color and Class Criteria. Taste is not a criteria for this category.
- Intermediate: Taste (30% weightage will be given), Creativity, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance, Color and Class Criteria.
- Signature: Taste, texture, moistness, ingredients used and presentation/plating.
- Anonymous judging will be done by a panel of country’s and city’s top bakers and pastry chefs in an unbiased manner.
- Judges and Homebakers.co.in decision will be final.
- Results will be announced on the same day.
- Cash or cash equivalent prizes will be announced for Winner (5k) and Runner-up (2.5k) along with a trophy.
