TAKE OFF

Take-off is an event that gives you an opportunity to showcase and implement your knowledge about the laws and concepts of physics that govern the motion of a rocket in air, its take-off, its trajectory, etc.

The event comprises of three rounds which will be as follows-

Round 1: For this round, the ground will be divided into six different zones. From starting point, the participant will have to use the launcher and a rocket (made of water and plastic bottles) to launch the rocket. The participant will be given points according to the area in which the rocket lands. The area and the points that area holds will be visible during the event. One zone will be having zero points, three zones will be having 40, 60 and 80 points respectively and the remaining two zones will be having -20 and -30 points respectively. This round will give 3 attempts to each team. The total of 3 attempts will be considered.

Round 2: For this round, a target will be declared. Points will be awarded according to the closeness of the distance from the target after the rocket touches the ground for the first time.

Round 3: In this round, the participant will be required to deploy their rocket after launching. The time for which the rocket stays in air after the deployment will be counted. Parachute should be used and attached to the rocket. The parachute should open after the deployment.

1. Participants will be required to bring their college ID cards.

2. Participants will have to bring their own rockets made of plastic bottles and water. Launcher and pump will be provided by the organizing team of the event.

3. In round 1, if the rocket falls on the boundary of two zones, then the points of the zone with higher points will be counted.

4. Points will be counted only for the time interval where the rocket touches the ground for the first time.

5. In round 3, participant will be disqualified in case the parachute doesn’t open.

6. The pressure can be applied only in the given range.

All teams are allowed to participate in Round 1 and Round 2. Based on the total scores of the first two Rounds, top 10 scorers of the first two Rounds will be qualified for the last and final Round 3.

There will be three winners.

Q. I am participating in another event in MindSpark. Can I still register for this event?

A. You are allowed to participate in any event in MindSpark, provided you can manage your own schedule.

Q. Who can participate in the event?

A. Any college (UG)* student. You may be asked to present a valid ID card and the registration receipt. *It should be a valid degree course from a certified institute.

Q. Is on-spot participation allowed?

A. No. On-sd. participation is not allowed.

1. If number of participants are less than 20 then only 2 winners will be selected.

3. If number of participants are less than or equal to 3 then event will be cancelled.

4. Prizes are subject to change depending on number of participants.
