Startup Master Class

Highlights This Year:

• SMC Select (Pitch to Investors)
  Our panel of esteemed and leading investors will rigorously evaluate the applying startups even before the final event day with an objective to cash-in on the opportunity to fund the winning startups. Startups from any stage can apply but the final judgement rests with our panel of investors and they would rigorously evaluate the startups for their fundamentals, market fit, team and business potential. A 1 crore fund has been arranged for the startups to avail. Startups must submit their pitch decks before 5th September to be considered for pitching.

• One-on-One
  One-on-ones are one of the most popular attractions at Startup Master Class that allow entrepreneurs in various stages of starting up a new venture to have a 15 minute face to face discussion with investors, industry veterans and mentors. If you would like to brainstorm your business model, revenue model, product pipeline, strategy to enter market, company culture, and/or gain from the wisdom of eminent folks, this is an opportunity for you.

• Table space and stall
  Do you have a product that you want people to know about and get a feeling of how users would react on seeing your products? SMC brings an opportunity for startups to exhibit their products by purchasing our table spaces and stalls. One stall allows 4 attendees to attend and one table space allows 1 attendee to attend. For any additional attendee, a separate ticket will need to be purchased.

• Main Stage
  Inauguration, experience sharing and motivational sessions by some of our keynote speakers. The SMC team has invited some of the eminent speakers from industry and veterans whose experiences and knowledge would help give a larger perspective about entrepreneurship to our audience. In the past, the likes of Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Mr. Narayan Murthy, Mr. Baba Kalyani and Mr. Venkatesh Iyer have addressed the SMC participants.
   
• Panel Discusssions
  The team is bringing together eminent panelists to discuss and share their thoughts on 3 topics:
  
  - Dark side of Being an Entrepreneur
  A panel of entrepreneurs from varied backgrounds will share the invisible side of entrepreneurship. The session would focus on the less known facets of entrepreneurship ranging from ethical to practical challenges.

  - Cross Border Collaboration to create truly global ventures
  Our panel of speakers from different countries and with their expertise with entrepreneurial culture will share how entrepreneurship has flourished in their countries and how India could leverage their culture and characteristics to foster its own entrepreneurial culture.

  - Key Ingredients of becoming a successful entrepreneur
  What does it take to become a successful entrepreneur? Is it right team? right funding? right market? right time? Or is it all? Hear our experienced panelists answer these questions in this session

• Product Showcase
  Have you ever thought what would be the one product that would solve people’s problems and is loved & liked by everyone? Whether the answer is yes or no, you need not worry because the SMC team brings to you showcase of some of the coolest and newest products that would excite you enough to start believing in your dreams of creating some such ones on your own.

 

About SMC

Startup Master Class (SMC) is a 4 year old initiative of Alumni Association IIT Kanpur and has now become a Pan-IIT event. To achieve its mandate of fostering and nurturing budding entrepreneurs, it brings together startups, mentors and investors to build interactions and strengthen the network within the entrepreneurial community.

11 editions of SMC have been organized across India and this will be the 12th edition being organized in Pune. Pune will be hosting this for the 3rd time. The first two SMC events in Pune have been a big success and have been addressed by Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Mr. Narayan Murthy, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Baba Kalyani.

In this edition, the event is being organized at The Westin, Pune and will be inaugurated by Minister Suresh Prabhu. There are many other dignitaries and speakers addressing the event gathering and will be announced in due course of time.

It is expected that 800+ participants including 400+ startups, 40+ angel investors & VCs, 40+ speakers & mentors and several startup enthusiasts will attend the event in Pune. A 1 crore fund has been organized for startups to avail.
