Event Information
Paradiso is proud to present Ángela López in her Live Music and Silent Film event : Discovering G. Méliès III. This is a special event for you and your loved ones, to experience the beauty of silent films from the early twentieth century.
During “Discovering G. Méliès III”, Ángela, pianist and singer, will take us one more time to the fantastical world of G. Méliès, by accompanying with original music the projection of “The Conquest of the Pole”, “Christmas Dream”, “Gulliver´s Travels” and other short films by the French filmmaker of the early twentieth century.
A fascinating experience through the work of the pioneer of the science fiction genre, in which the magical effects on the screen are surprisingly wrapped by the infinite sound possibilities of Ángela´s voice and all the elements that make up the grand piano.
Born in 1861, and originally a stage magician and showman, Méliès is referred as the “father of special effects”, having experimented with many different film editing techniques, such as multiple exposures, dissolves, stop motion or hand-painted colour that made possible for umbrellas to turn into mushrooms, for aliens to disappear into a puff of smoke or for heads to inflate and move on their own.
