Join us for a Sunday morning stroll in Juhu- an erstwhile island village dotted with coconut tree plantations. Walk its three Gaothans and discover; the footprints of Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian freedom struggle; the contribution of Juhu’s landlords- the Rane family; the Portuguese and the East Indian community; Bao Babs from Africa; Prithvi theatre an icon established by the Kapoor family
This is a not-for-profit 1km guided HISTORY WALK led by SANDEEP DAHISARKAR, an award-winning archaeologist, art historian & author of three books on Mumbai’s history including ‘Parle: Dnyata-Adnyata’
Date and Timings: Sunday 9th March 2025, 8am to 10am
Meeting point: 8.00 am sharp at the bus stop opposite Chandan Cinema (Next to Dev Park Society). Please walk or use public transport to the venue
Route: The walk will begin at Chandan Cinema, pass through Mukteshwar Temple (opposite ISKCON), Juhu market, St Joseph’s Church and end at Prithvi Theatre
Please carry: A bottle of water; wide brim cap
Recommended age group: 15 years and above
Included in the ticket: 8am to 10am- a 1.5 to 2 hour guided history tour led by historian Sandeep Dahisarkar
Optional and NOT included in the ticket: At the end of the walk, exchange notes and observations over breakfast at Prithvi Cafe
