Honar Productions, in collaboration with Depot48, proudly presents the return of Mehfil-e-Honar —an enchanting evening of musical gathering that transcends borders and genres. Mark your calendars for 6th December, as this unique event promises to weave together the threads of Indian classical, jazz, and global rhythms into a tapestry of sonic brilliance.
This edition of Mehfil-e-Honar features a stellar lineup of internationally renowned artists:
- Sharat Srivastava (Indian Classical Violin): A master of the Senia Gharana, Sharat’s 35-year career spans Indian classical, rock, and world music. Trained by his grandfather, Shri Joi Srivastava, he has performed with legends like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. Sharat’s innovative projects, including India Alba and *Sagar*, fuse Indian ragas with global melodies, earning him international acclaim.
- Igor Bezget (Guitar): One of Slovenia’s most celebrated guitarists, Igor combines jazz, world, and Indian classical styles. With over 70 recordings to his name, he is an influential composer and performer who has mastered instruments like the oud and sarod, blending diverse traditions into his music.
- Dr. Sina Fakhroddin (Iranian Tombak & Kurdish Daf): A virtuoso percussionist, Sina is an expert in Persian and Indian rhythmic traditions. Founder of Viuna Music Ensemble and Weme (World Ethnic Music Ensemble), he holds a PhD in Hindustani Classical Music and has performed with icons like Abida Parveen and Hansraj Hans.
- Gyan Singh (Tabla): A tabla maestro trained by Ustad Abdullah Khan, Gyan has graced festivals worldwide, from the Khajuraho Millennium to Edinburgh Fringe. A co-founder of the world music band Mrigya, he has collaborated with legendary artists and bands like Parikrama and international acts like *Mukta* and *India Alba*.
Together, these accomplished artists will create a breathtaking fusion of classical and jazz melodies, harmonized with the rhythmic intricacies of India and Iran.
The evening begins on a soulful note with a ukulele solo by Chintan Kalra, whose artistry will set the stage for the captivating musical journey to follow.
