Located in the bylanes of Mazgaon, Matharpacady is a 200 year old East Indian village that is getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Rudolph and Santa Claus installations, fairy lights and colourful Christmas trees, adorn the area that has been home to many East Indian Families for over two centuries.
These forgotten lanes take you back in time, when colourful quaint homes quietly lay within fruiting orchards, and slow life was the only way of living. While the orchards no longer exist, you will still be charmed as this hamlet is full of wonderful stories from its past.
A twice fruiting mango tree, century year-old Goan clubs, 125 year-old oratory of the saint of epidemics and infectious diseases, stories of lesser known freedom fighters, a historic perennial well that has a unique cultural significance to the East Indians, the history of East Indians, are just some of the many interesting places and stories we share you on the tour.
Join us, for a wonderful Christmas Tour only on 26th December, 5.30 pm
Please note: A part of our proceeds will be going to the Matharpacady Residents Welfare Association. Who are putting in a fight to save the heritage of Matharpacady from mindless and illegal construction.
