The Kindness Project in association with FLO presents Lal Batti Express, on the 11th of January 2020, from 7pm onwards at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, featuring for the first time in Chennai - the Revolutionaries of Kranti.
Kranti is an NGO that empowers girls from Mumbai’s red-light areas to become agents of social change. Kranti currently supports 25 girls, ages 15-25, who are survivors of trafficking or daughters of sex workers from Kamathipura in Mumbai, one of Asia’s most infamous red-light areas. In the past five years, Kranti's Revolutionaries have shot to fame on multiple platforms - they have written, directed and performed their own play in front of 1 million audience members including at the headquarters of Google and Facebook; their performance at Edinburgh Fringe was covered by the BBC and received over 10 million views. The Revolutionaries continue to use theatre to bring the stories of sex workersʼ daily lives to mainstream audiences, and use street theatre to bring change to various communities.
This event is the first of many in a lineup that culminates in August 2020 with the International Kindness Festival, an event with the sole purpose of exploring the role that kindness and empathy play in our lives – from the most basic acts of human survival to igniting movements that change the world.
