Western Ghats. It is the best place to visit in monsoon, from the mid
of August to October. The whole plateau looks like a carpet in various
colors. It's a unique place for flora researchers, nature lovers &
photographers.
Near about 175 various flower species found at
Kaas Plateau and one of the few found on earth only at Kaas Plateau. In
June 2012 UNESCO has announced this location as a Biodiversity World
Heritage Site. The plateau is home to 850 species of flowering plants,
of which 624 have entered the Red Data Book, a state document that lists
species whose existence is threatened. As many as 39 species are found
only in Kaas region.
Sajjangad Fort Samarth Ramdas lived
for long time Sajjangad, a small hillock near Satara. He breathed his
last here and devotees worship his mausoleum here. This is an important
centre of worship for the Ramdasi sect. Ramdas swami remains an
inspiration for the technique he developed in infusing Nationalism and
Dharmic devotion among ordinary people across the country by his concept
of Hanuman temple, akhaada and a Paathashaalain every village. His
emphasis on Rashtra chintana along with spiritualsadhana is more
relevant today than it was anytime before.
Thoseghar Waterfall
Thoseghar is very famous for its high Waterfalls. One of which is
around 500 meters tall. Thoseghar is a wonderful place for nature
lovers. These Waterfalls are very attractive and creates a loud noise in
the calm nature.
Kalyangad Fort Kalyangad is also known as
Nandgiri fort. This fort was built by king Bhoj-II of Shilahar dynasty
as mentioned in the copper plate inscription found in Satara. This fort
appears to be built in between 1178 to 1209. It appears from many copper
plate inscriptions of Shilahar kings that they gave many donations to
Jain people. It has been proved that this fort is built by Shilahar
Kings, as many statues of Lord Parshvanath are found in the cave on
Kalyangad.
