Riding on the success of past weekends, Zoom TV and Oaksmith® Gold Glasses bring #WeekendLive this Sunday, featuring the popular rock and sufi band Faridkot, who in their own words – “have been killing it since 2008”.
#WeekendLive is a collaborative effort between the leading entertainment channel Zoom TV, and new to India’s very happening music and performances scene, Oaksmith® Gold Glasses (@OaksmithGoldIndia on Facebook & Instagram). As many live shows cancel, platforms like #WeekendLive are pioneering efforts to build a work-from-home culture for the artists, and giving roots to an emerging format for live music with #StayHome – House Concerts.
#WeekendLive leverages “Live” feature of popular social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, as some of India’s top talents perform from the safety of their homes, straight to that of their audiences.
This week’s artist - the indie-rock pioneers Faridkot, are a live band originating from Delhi, and a regular act on the city stages and beyond. After releasing their debut album “Ek” to some tremendous critical acclaim in 2008, they went ahead and won pretty much all significant music challenges in the latter part of that decade. As there was no looking back, the music outfit continues breaking new ground with their performances each time. Faridkot’s music is a mixture of shifting blues guitars and harmonic love melodies blended around a thumping percussion and bass - described in certain circles as Confused Pop. For audiences that like to groove to a mean rhythm beat, this band caters to them.
Going by the response to last few editions, #WeekendLive has been a hit, with over 5mn viewers watching the riveting performances - by Indian Ocean, India's most celebrated and iconic rock band, Deveshi Sahgal, the very talented sufi singer, the iconic Rajasthani folk musician and internationally renowned, Kutle Khan Project and the very versatile singer-songwriter Jasleen Aulakh.
