Himalayan Camping Life is a unique, hands-on hiking and camping journey designed for people who want to experience the mountains in a simple, authentic, and meaningful way. This is not luxury camping.

Participants hike during the day and camp at carefully selected natural campsites each night. While the Dekho Darjeeling team manages safety, logistics, major meals, drinking water, and campsite facilities, participants actively take part in pitching tents, basic camp routines, and outdoor living.

This experience focuses on self-reliance, teamwork, learning camping basics, and connecting deeply with nature.

Day 1 – Reporting at Fedi Khola | Riverside Camp

• Reporting at Fedi Khola

• Easy introductory hike

• Riverside campsite in the countryside

• Orientation, acclimatization & camp setup

• Overnight riverside camping

• Scenic hike through forests and open meadows

Camping Style & Participant Responsibility

This is a participatory camping experience.

• Bring your own tent & sleeping bag OR rent from the organiser

• Tents and personal gear will be transported between camps

• Participants must pitch and dismantle their tents themselves

• Tea, coffee & instant items must be self-cooked

• Major meals, drinking water, washroom facilities & logistics are managed by the organiser

Fitness Requirement

• Suitable for beginners with basic fitness

• Comfortable walking 6–10 km per day

• No prior camping experience required

• Willingness to participate in camp activities is essential

• Comfortable hiking shoes with good grip

• Backpack (20–30 L)

• Warm clothing (layers, jacket, cap, gloves)

• Rain protection (poncho or rain jacket)

• Personal water bottle

• Torch / headlamp (mandatory)

• Personal medications (if any)

• Sunscreen, cap & sunglasses

• Basic toiletries & towel

• Power bank

Camping Essentials (Mandatory):

• Plate, mug & spoon

• Toilet paper / tissues

• Lighter or matchbox

• Personal toiletry kit (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitizer)

If opting for Own Tent:

Cancellation Policy

• No refund for cancellations within 5 days of the event

• 50% refund for cancellations 7–10 days prior

• No refund for no-shows or early departure

• Event may be rescheduled or modified due to weather or safety
