Heritage Trip to Badami Pattadakal & Aihole

The capital of the Chakukyas was Badami, which was once known as Vatapi. For its cave temples, it is renowned worldwide. Another lovely location is the complex of temples at Bhuthnath on the shores of Agastya Lake. Nearby towns like Badami's Aihole and Pattadkal are also brimming with history. Ladkhan Temple and Durga Temple are two of the 19 monuments in Aihole, both of which are outstanding specimens of Chalukyan design. Numerous idols from Indian mythology, like Mahishasur and Varah, may be found in the Durga temple. About 22 miles from Badami, Pattadakal is home to a number of temples and shrines. Here, you can find Kannada inscriptions that date to the eighth century.

Megalithic dolmens in the Badami region provide proof that people lived there even in prehistoric times. Vatapi and Agastya tirtha are also described in the Puranas.
