Join us for a film screening of "Moolaadé(2004)" on the February 16, 5:00PM at
Discovery Book Palace, K.K.Nagar.
Organised by Madras Film Screening Club, a film society based out of Chennai and who have been conducting film screenings for the last three years now.
Often hailed as the father of New African cinema, the 81-year-old Senegalese director, Ousmane Sembene made "Moolaadé" as part of a planned trilogy on “heroism in daily life.”
Moolaadé is the story of Colle, a woman who provides an order of protection (moolaadé) to a handful of young girls who refuse to undergo the painful and hideous ritual of female genital mutilation.
To skip "Moolaade" would be to miss an opportunity to experience the embracing, affirming, world-changing potential of humanist cinema at its finest. Come join us this Sunday.
The film screening will be followed by a discussion on the film.
Entry is free!
All are welcome!
