Featherheads Haokui is a folk-rock outfit from Ukhrul, Manipur, whose music is steeped in the oral traditions, folklore, and identity of the Tangkhul Naga community. Founded and fronted by Augustine L. Shimray, the band formally reformed in 2016, though its origins trace back to 2012. Featherheads Haokui fuses traditional Tangkhul folk melodies, chants, instruments (including hao lāā folk tunes and tingteila, a traditional stringed instrument) with folk-rock, electro-folk, and alternative guitar arrangements. Their songs often address themes of: Identity and cultural heritage; reconnecting with ancestral ways, and contemporary social issues: youth and generational detachment, technology, addiction, and the pull of modern culture.
Visually and in performance, the band places strong emphasis on cultural aesthetics — from costumes, tattoos, hairstyles, to filming locations in Tangkhul villages, rugged landscapes seldom seen in mainstream media.
Jack Of Spade'z is a Rock ‘n’ Roll trio hailing from Manipur and New Delhi — Alem Mahukva (vocals/Guitar), Ngatik Asara (Bass), and Adhyan Emerson (Drums) brings high-energy riffs, a fearless attitude, and a sound that hits hard and stays real.
