Edify Sports MTB Summit to Umling La @19300 feet - The Highest Road

For the first time in India, Edify Sports has curated a novel 400 km + cycling route for you on the world's highest motorable road at Umling La (pass) at 19,300 feet height in Ladakh region in the Himalayas. Explore the pristine land of Buddhism like never before.

Event Itinerary:

• Day 1: Arrival into Leh. Overnight at hotel / homestay. 
• Day 2: Acclimatize, Stroll around Leh. Preparation and Briefing about the trip. Overnight at hotel / homestay. 
  
  RIDING STARTS
• Day 3: Leh to Liktse Village - 80 km.    Overnight in camp stay. 
  
• Day 4: Liktse Village to Chumathang - 80 km.    Overnight in camp stay. 
  (Enjoy natural hot water springs) 
• Day 5: Chumathang to Hanle - 120 km.    Overnight in homestay. 
  
• Day 6: Hanle to Chisumale (Via Norbula) - 51 km.    Overnight in campstay. 
  
• Day 7: Chisumale to Umling La top & back to Chisumale  - 46 km  
  Chisumale to Hanle (51 km) BY CAR on same day.    Overnight in homestay. 
  (Visit world's 3rd highest Astronomical Observatory at 14,800 ft atop Mt. Saraswati in Hanle, explore India's first 'Dark Sky Reserve' and Hanle monastery) 
  RIDING ENDS
  
  
• Day 8: Hanle to Leh - by Car.    Overnight at hotel / homestay in Leh. Felicitation Ceremony 
  
• Day 9: Departure from Leh

1. Stay in hotels / homestays on 5 days, and only for 3 days in camps (triple sharing), with toilet tents. 
2. Fresh hot food on most days, except for few times during camping days.

Exclusions: 

• Travel to and from Leh 
• Bike rentals, if you are renting a bike from Leh 
• Any expenses of personal nature

• Onward travel, if you drop the ride in between, or if your unexpected behaviour forces organisers to leave you midway. 
• Major Cycle Repair / Bike spare parts/ components 
• Anything other than items mentioned in Inclusions 
• Bike transportation to and from Leh

• Adventure Insurance Options (Insurance Details to be shared after you confirm your participation) 
•     Rs. 1500 for a Sum assured of Rs. 5.42 lakhs 
•     Rs. 2000 for a Sum assured of Rs. 8.05 lakhs

Note:

• Your bicycle should be only MTB cycles, with gears (No road bikes, hybrid bikes, city bikes, touring bikes); should have hydraulic brakes & a front suspension.
• The list of things to be carried by cyclists shall be shared upon registration. 
• Please check if your Life Insurance policy includes the clause of death by Adventure Sports. If not, you need to buy the Adventure Sports Policy separately from any of the providers. We can suggest the policy. 
• The Indemnity form shall be mailed to you separately. Please sign it and send back the soft copy on mail within 2 days. And submit the hard copy before the expedition begins. Non-submission of hard copy shall lead to disqualification of the rider from the expedition and the paid amount shall be forfeited.

In case of cancellation of the event:

- If your participation is cancelled by you, the amount paid shall be forfeited.

- If the event is cancelled by the organisers, the entire amount paid shall be refunded, and any kits distributed shall be taken back.

- If the event is cancelled because of force majeure or Covid restrictions, 15% of the amount paid shall be deducted and the rest shall be refunded.

  Border Roads Organization (BRO) has constructed the world’s highest motorable road in the Ladakh UT, passing through Umling La Top at a height of over 19,300 feet.
