The 5th edition of Designuru 5.0, a four-day citywide festival celebrating the best of architecture, interior design, art, craft, technology, and culture is taking place from December 11–14, 2025, at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Kumara Krupa Road, and is open to the public with free entry. best of architecture, interior design, art, craft, technology, and culture. This year’s theme, “Design for Everyday Life,” highlights how thoughtful design impacts homes, neighbourhoods, and the cultural fabric of Bengaluru. The four-day festival will bring together architects, interior designers, design students, craftsmen, innovators, and citizens on one vibrant platform.

The festival features an exciting mix of public-friendly experiences including:

‘NAMMA MANE’: Homes for Quality Living on Small Plots:

A specially curated exhibition of homes designed for 20x30, 30x40, 30x60 ft plots, helping citizens understand how thoughtful architecture can achieve comfort, compliance, and liveability on compact sites. This collaboration between IIID and the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) helps bridge the gap between designers and the public.

Live 3D Printing (Robotic) Demonstration:

A first-of-its-kind showcase demonstrating how robotic 3D-printing technology can revolutionize everyday residential construction.

Public-friendly Installations & Material Showcase:

21 installations by leading manufacturers and suppliers of interior and construction materials, presented in creative, immersive formats to spark ideas for home improvement, renovation, and design inspiration.

Student Works Exhibition:

Visitors can explore models, sketches, drawings, and documentation of heritage sites including Melukote, Aihole, Badami, Pattadakal, offering a glimpse into Karnataka’s architectural legacy and the bright future of India’s design talent.

Adding colour and cultural depth to the event, Designuru will present live folk performances such as Lambani, Lavani, and Veeragase, along with traditional Uttara Karnataka Chitra art and artisan corners showcasing crafts from across India.

There will also be unique exhibit on revitalising Toda huts (Nilgiris) through regenerative materials and modern amenities, preserving cultural heritage while adapting to contemporary needs. This special showcase will highlight the relevance of indigenous architecture in modern contexts.

For design professionals, the festival will host a high-impact panel discussion on “Bengaluru Infra-Woe to Wow! Citizen-Centric Transformation,” featuring top leaders including Maheshwar Rao (IAS), Chief Commissioner, GBA; L.K. Atheeq (IAS), Bangalore Business Corridor; Uma Reddy, President, FKCCI; Ar. Naresh V. Narasimhan; and Ar. Dinesh Verma, moderated by Ar. Gayathri Shetty.

The event will also feature talks by renowned national and global architects, as well as a seminar on future construction technologies such as precast construction, aluminium formwork, robotics, and sustainable materials.

For students, Designuru 5.0 offers hands-on workshops on working drawings, mood boards, storytelling in architecture, and design detailing, along with guided interactions with leading architects and designers.
