Walk through the heart of Old Bangalore, where stories are etched into every street corner, temple façade, and morning cup of filter coffee.
Our journey begins at Mysore Bank Circle, the threshold between the old and the new. As we step into Avenue Road, we dive into the soul of Bengaluru Pete — a vibrant maze of markets, memories, and multiculturalism. With a steaming tumbler of filter coffee in hand from a beloved local café, we begin uncovering the layers of a city that has always embraced diversity.
We pass by heritage buildings, pause at the Rice Memorial Church, and explore the roots of the Karaga Festival, a centuries-old celebration of community strength and resilience. Along the way, we trace the origins and layout of the Pete, learning how different communities made Bengaluru their home and shaped its inclusive spirit.
A quick stop for iconic dosas and snacks fuels the next leg of our walk — a visit to a dargah, and a deep dive into the floral chaos of K.R. Market. Here, we explore the economy of the Pete: trade routes, flower auctions, and the small businesses that power the city.
As we step out of the market’s pulse and into history’s shadow, we arrive at the Bangalore Fort. The site of fierce Anglo-Mysore battles, it’s where we connect Bengaluru’s past with its future — from the Madras Sappers to the rise of India's defence, space, and tech industries. Our final stops — Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace and the serene Kote Venkataramana Temple — leave us with a sense of continuity: a city shaped by warriors, weavers, scientists, and storytellers.
