Chick ’N’ Roll is Dehradun’s much-loved classic rock band with a truly diverse repertoire ranging from The Beatles to the Doors and Elton John with everything else thrown in between that rocks — whether heavy or soft. 

With a strong following of rock music lovers of all ages who like to shake a leg, the talented six-member band has performed at venues across India, including Depot 48, Delhi, AMPM Kolkata and The Tollygunge Club Kolkata. The band performs regularly at the Basque Garden Project amphitheatre in Dehradun, and is now taking bookings for other cities. 

Chick ’N’ Roll’s repertoire includes well-known standards from the 60s, 70s and 80s, good old singalongs, guitar-driven rock n’ roll dance numbers, edgy jams and laid-back psychedelic rock. In March 2024, the band delivered a standout and high-profile tribute to The Beatles on George Harrison’s birth anniversary.

Chick ’N’ Roll are:

Vijit Singh Malik (vocals, rhythm guitar): A frequent performer on stages across both India and Dubai, performing both individually as well as with leading bands, Vijit is an adept practitioner of classic rock, blues, country rock and folk rock. His repertoire draws heavily on The Beatles, The Eagles, The Grateful Dead, Credence Clearwater Revival, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Simon & Garfunkel, America and many, many more.

Kalam Rawat (bass) is a guitarist and bassist based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, with nearly two decades of experience in music. Having started his journey as a guitarist in 2007, he has developed a versatile playing style influenced by a wide range of musical genres. Over the past six years, he has also established himself as a dedicated bass player, performing with various bands and live music projects. Known for his strong sense of rhythm, musical adaptability, and stage presence, Kalam brings both technical proficiency and creative energy to every performance. His passion for music and extensive live experience continue to shape his contribution as a reliable and dynamic member of the band.

Sanjay Aggarwal (drums): Sunny is literally the power-house and driving force behind Chick ’N’ Roll. A percussionist since his school days at Sanawar, he plays the drums, tabla and dholak. Trained by Nandon Bagchi in Calcutta, he was part of The Backsides and Time Machine. His musical influences span Indian classical, jazz, and rock & roll.

Sangeet Charles ( guitar, vocals ) guitarist and composer based in the Dehra valley, began his career in early childhood, shaped by deep family roots in music. With over two decades of evolution in classic rock and blues, he specialises in creating expressive riffs and cinematic textures, drawing inspiration from Clapton, Gilmour, Satriani, Santana, Hendrix and Don Felder.

Sandeep Singh (piano, keyboards): Sandeep is a music composer, arranger, teacher and recordist with his very own recording studio and music school. He’s done his Trinity, of course. He’s a veritable one-man band: plays the piano, keyboards, guitar, drums and tabla! Favourite genres are rock, blues, jazz and pop.

Sarthak Aggarwal (drums, percussions): Our young drumming sensation! With rhythmic prowess well beyond his years, Sarthak plays the drums, cajon and tambourine. His musical beats promise to leave an indelible mark on any audience! He started drumming at the age of 3, and has passed several Trinity grades. His music tastes include The Who, Queen, Led Zep, and Fleetwood Mac among others. His favourite genres span vintage rock, pop, alt rock and are ever growing.

In 2024, we played to a sold out audience of 140 strong at Depot 48, and there have been repeated requests from our Delhi based fans to bring the show back to Delhi!
