Aug 09 | 11:00 AM (IST)

Event Information

Join us for an insightful session with Prof. Arvind Rao (University of Michigan) as he explores how AI is transforming radiology and pathology—enhancing diagnostic accuracy, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Designed for healthcare professionals, students, and faculty interested in innovation and digital transformation, this talk will use real-world case studies to highlight:

  • How AI prioritizes urgent cases and detects complex patterns
  • Ways AI optimizes workflows and manages imaging at scale
  • Integration of AI tools in clinical settings and hospital systems

Key takeaways include:

  • Strategic use of AI in diagnostics to improve service delivery
  • Operational and business value of AI-enabled workflows
  • Addressing data governance, human-AI collaboration, and trust
  • Frameworks for AI readiness, ROI, and risk assessment
  • Policy, regulatory, and ethical considerations
  • Future directions in precision diagnostics and health systems

This is more than a technical discussion—it’s a strategic briefing for tomorrow’s healthcare leaders on how AI can be a catalyst for organizational transformation.

About the speaker:
Arvind Rao is a Professor in the Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan. His group uses image analysis and machine learning methods to link image-derived phenotypes with genetic data, across biological scales (i.e., single cell, tissue, and radiology data). Such methods have found application in radiogenomics, drug repurposing based on phenotypic screens, and spatial profiling in tissue, as well as in spatial transcriptomics.

Arvind received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan, specializing in transcriptional genomics, and was a Lane Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in bioimage informatics. He is also a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), The Royal College of Pathology (RCPath) in the UK (by published works) and the American Association for Advancement in Science (AAAS)
