There are two sides to quilt-making: the tangible quilt, which one can touch, and the intangible or ephemeral, which is the passion for quilting. This lecture focuses on the passion for quilt-making. It examines the unseen factors of why a woman is driven to make yet another quilt and another. The reasons go back eons and are ingrained in the DNA of the subcontinent. Whether or not a woman is aware of the dynamics revealed in this talk is not important; what is important is that she makes another quilt for herself and her family, her community and the world!
