About the Artist:

I am Maithili Bhande (@mitselia_ ),an Industrial designing student in Pune. I'm passionate about art and have been practicing for the last 14 years. I've completed various courses in Sketching, Portrait sketching, landscape painting, watercolour painting, Acrylic painting and Oil painting. I've displayed my artworks in various exhibitions before and have also conducted a watercolour painting workshops.

Here's what you'll learn at this workshop:

Session 1 - Introduction to watercolors, tools and materials, methods and techniques, do’s and don’ts. (2 hours)

• Introduction to watercolors
• Understanding different art tools and materials
• Study different methods and techniques used in all watercolor paintings
• Do’s and don'ts

Session 2 - Watercolor basics- transparency, layers (2 hours)

• Exercises on watercolour layers required in watercolour paintings
• Learn to create watercolour transpararency by diluting the colour using adequate water quantities
• Valuable tips on how to avoid beginner mistakes and master this medium

Session 3 - Brush control (2 hours)

• Learn and practice beautiful brush strokes important in watercolour paintings and thus master your control over the brush.
• Practice 9 different brush strokes and gain confidence in using a paintbrush

Session 4 - Monochrome landscape watercolor painting (2 hours)

• What is monochrome painting?⠀⠀⠀
• How to make a beautiful landscape using barely 1 or 2 colours from your palette?⠀⠀
• Get a better understanding of the watercolour medium and all the different techniques used in any watercolour painting
• Learn how to blend colours in this medium
• Learn the technique of wet- on- wet (adding wash)
• How to make different colour tones and shades and use them in your painting?
• Light and shadows
• Maintaining balance with the amount of colour, water and brush pressure on the paper surface
• Study of watercolour flow and its techniques
• Adding the first and second layers
• How to add intricate details with paint brushes as well as pens?
• Most importantly gaining confidence in watercolour painting and overcoming the fear of making mistakes in your painting

Session 5 - Sunset painting (2 hours)

• Learn new skills to paint watercolour sunsets and silhouettes
• Get a better understanding of the medium and techniques.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Get a better understanding of the type of paper, brushes and colours to use⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

• Learn how to blend colours in this medium⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Learn the technique of wet- on- wet (adding wash)

Session 8 - Landscape painting (3 hours)

1. Watercolor paper around 200 GSM (Cold Pressed Paper)
2. Watercolor Tubes / Cakes
   
3. Round brush (Any Size between 8 to 14)
4. Flat Brush (Size 12 or 14 or 15)
5. Round Brush (Size 0 or 1 or 2)
6. Palette and Tissue papers
7. Water Container + Waster Cloth / Paper Napkins
8. Pencil / Eraser / Ruler
   
9. Black Pen
10. Masking Tape
