WINTER PRECAUTIONS

- Too much snowfall results in closing of roads. Depending on the amount of snowfall – it could take days or weeks before the roads open up again.
- There is no running water in taps (due to freezing temperatures).Water is taken from hand pumps. Since there’s no running water and pipes are frozen, you’re most likely to find dry compost toilets.
- Stay hydrated and don’t skip meals. You might not feel hungry at times, but, given the altitude and temperature you can’t afford to skip any meals. Staying hydrated is also very important. Please don’t take this lightly!
- Walk small distances at a time. Don’t overexert your body.
- Carrying a flask of warm water is recommended.
- There will be times where there will be no electricity.
- Besides Kaza, you won’t find mobile signal throughout the valley. BSNL Post-paid/Prepaid does work outside of Kaza, but again, depending on the snowfall, it will be difficult to find a signal.
