National Crime Records Bureau Statisitcs 2016 reveals there is a steady increase in the rate of crime against women with crime with an intention to outrage the modesty of women at the second place.

As runners we do come across these crimes now and then and we have also been noticing a steady increase. As women, we face crimes with an intention to outrage our modesty at every aspect of our day to day life. Added to this are cases of chain snatching and other offenses. 

Changing the mindset of society is a long drawn process. What do we do to change ourselves? Do we get scared and stop living or do we begin to equip ourselves with life skills?

The Tamilnadu police has come forward to help women who are early morning road users by offering a martial art workshop. 

Kravmaga is an israeli self defense system used by their military. It is a combination of various martial arts. It is considered to be a street self defense system and helps to react when there is an action. 

The course instructor is putting together a 2 hour workshop that will teach some practical self defense techniques with tips on how to stay safe.
