Shedin Dujone, Together from another time (Love affair with Tagore- the Bard)

"Ekla Cholo Re" - I am sure this phrase has been known to many of you !! These were the words of a poem by Sri Rabindranath Tagore which means "Let us move on and if needed alone" . The Bard of Bengal as he was known to all - Robindranath Tagore or Thakur as we Bengalis address him was not just a poet or an author - He was an enigma who changed the way we all think !! His philosophy, his works, his University Shantiniketan were all much beyond his times and he uplifted the society to a large extent. No one has been able to fill that position up. Not only is he is the only Indian to be honoured with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, he is only one who has written National Anthems for two countries and also influenced the Anthem of another country, his works are synonymous to Chaucer, Shakespeare or authors of that journey. !!

A very strong influencer of Robindranath Tagore's life and philosophy were - The Bauls !! The Bauls are a cult in Bengal who earns their living through songs which are mainly on your body and mind !! Shantiniketan or Bolpur where the University is, is a place close to the heartland of Bauls called Joydev. Since his childhood during his visits to Bolpur he was exposed to The Bauls and their philosophy and songs which reflected in his works.
