'Offsites' is a series of curated interactions with SPA alumni who have chosen to do things other than building buildings. Commissioned by the Department of Architecture at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, sponsored by Jaquar, as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations, this series explores how an education in architecture prepares young people for the world in unexpected ways, and celebrates the diversity in lives and career paths that result from it.
Our first speaker, Virkein Dhar’s creative practice lies at the intersection of design, curation, and performance. While still in architecture school, Virkein juggled being a student of design in the week with teaching dance on the weekends. By the time she graduated in 2013, her interests in the spatiality of dance and organisational strategies became evident. Soon after, she went on to lead the IGNITE! Dance Festival, and was part of the founding team at Oddbird Theatre, an intimate black-box venue for promoting performing arts in Delhi. She was also part of the team that led programming at the recently concluded UnBox Festival in Bangalore, and is currently working towards developing a collective of arts spaces in non-metropolitan Indian cities. Read more about her initiatives on poppyseed.in.
On March 9, join us at the Oddbird Theatre as we chat with Virkein about how to remain motivated to pursue one's interests through time, and build the conviction that the dots will connect after all. Limited to an intimate gathering, the interactive session will feature reflections, questions and answers.
The ticket price of Rs.100 includes refreshments and a special giveaway. Once booked, tickets are non-refundable. Currently, all tickets have been sold out. However, please leave your details for the waitlist and we will get back to you by the evening of March 8th incase we have any openings: https://goo.gl/forms/OlBgG3YKnepk2zbl2?fbclid=IwAR23sCQJBFNw-qTLpRooMJiaXVRD1axtgb0C36yMQSj_RDabDELzNJvLGC8
