After touring in Europe, legendary Danish grammy-awarded saxophone-player Lars Møller and Ashwani Shankar - one of Indias absolut top-musicians traditional wind instrument “Shahnei” - will perfom in a trio-format with the young rising tabla star Zuheb Ahmed Khan. They will perform their authentic and innovative sax-shehnai-tabla interpretation of Indian ragas and folk-tunes with a soulful expression and intense rhythmic interplay.

The legendary Danish grammy-awarded saxophone player Lars Møller has for more than 35 years toured all over the world. His unique personal expression mixes his jazz-roots from performances with some of the best jazz-musicians of the world with inspiration from and a deep understanding of the North-Indian Indian music tradition. He has released more than 40 albums in his own name, received numerous awards, and performed at the official royal Danish visit I India in 2023.

Ashwani Shankar is out of a the legendary Shahnei family by their grandfather Anant Lal and father Daya Shankar. With his brother Sanjeev he is considered the leading shanei-players of India, having performed as solo artists and with their guru Ravi Shankar at leading festivals all over the world.
This evenening also features some of the most gifted and recognized young artists in Indian music, tabla-player Zuheb Ahmed Khan, who has performed with leading Indian and western artist.

Lars Møller a leading Scandinavian jazz figure. After living in New York 1987-89, playing with a number of legendary jazz-musicians, Lars Møller spend several prolonged periods in New Delhi in the early 90´s assimilating the highly emotional Indian classical music. As a composer and saxophone player he delicately combines western and global music traditions and includes small ensembles, orchestras, choirs, electronica and percussion-ensembles in his lyrical and forceful personal expression.
Lars Møller has performed with leading Orchestras in Europe, USA, Asia, Australia and South America, and most recently his composition “Indian Skies” with the Symphony Orchestra of BBC and Indian violinist Kala Ramnath opened the legendary PROMS series at Royal Albert Hall in London. He is currently artistic director of the Copenhagen Jazz Orchestra.
In India and Europe Lars Møller has performed with several leading artist such as violinist Kala Ramnath, shahnei-player Sanjeev Shankar and tabla-player Abhijit Banerjee, and he is also connecting the vibrant young generation of musicians including tabla-player Ahmed Khan. He is collaborating and giving concerts with Spicmacay, where he in 2016 was the first western artist to introduce jazz at the International Youth Convention. Lars Møller has received several awards, and his Stravinsky tribute “ReWrite of Spring” with Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and David Liebman was describes as “a soaring, sprawling conception,
3 combining exquisite detail with monumental vision” (Downbeat) and “A milestone in Danish jazz” (Weekendavisen).
