About
The Kuari Pass trek is perhaps the best known treks in the Garhwal Himalaya. The history of this trek dates back to 1905, when Lord Curzon, then Viceroy of India, trekked to Joshimath from Ghat while crossing over this magnificent Pass. It has been known as the Curzon’s Trail since then. Extremely popular amongst British and American trekkers, the Kuari Pass trek offers majestic views of the Twin Peaks of Nanda Devi- (7816 mtrs.), and the Nanda Devi East (7434 mtrs.), Kamet (7756 mtrs.), Dronagiri (7066 mtrs.), Hathi Parbat (6727 mtrs.) and Ghori Parvat (6708 mtrs.).
The truly refreshing part of the trek is while walking through the luxurious Himalayan meadows, called 'Bugyals' in the local language. The beauty and serenity of a Himalayan meadow is an experience no one should miss out on. The most remarkable is the Gorson Bugyal, consisting of vast undulating green pastures. On this trek you will also visit Auli, which is famous for its beautiful skiing slopes in the Kuari Pass.
