Agile and DevOps demanded faster provisioning and de-provisioning of IT Infrastructure for sprints due to short development, test, deployment cycles. Everchanging Business requirements and cost optimization has led to evolution of IT Infrastructure Complexity. Enterprise IT started with Mainframes then migrating to Unix Physical Servers with LPAR’s for cost optimization. Unix Physical Servers migrated to Linux and Windows X86 Physical Server platforms for further consolidation

X86 based Virtualization Technology helped in consolidating underutilized Physical Servers into Virtual Machines on single powerful Physical Server Hardware. Virtual Machines resource requirements led to Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Software Defined Storage (SDS). Automation was critical for faster Turn Around Time (TAT) to support Agile and DevOps as manual effort had human errors, longer implementation cycles and higher cost

Cloud started moving initially Dev/Test/PreProd and later on Production Virtual Machines out of On Premise Data Centers to Hosted-Colocated and Multiple Public Cloud DC converting CapEx to OpEx. Modern Micro Services Architecture based Applications started leveraging Container Technology which was lighter and faster than Virtual Machines. Serverless Function As A Service (FAAS) coupled with Microservices Applications architecture added to the complexity. Infrastructure As Code (IAC) is being version controlled along with Application Code making releases faster and better.

Modern Heterogenous Multi Platform Data Center and Cloud Infrastructure Management is critical to Application  success. Cloud-Data Center Infrastructure-Automation & Orchestration is solving the Complex  Infrastructure Management Puzzle.
