Trek to SAR PASS

Sar Pass, although a moderate trek, is a perfect one for beginners. The trek starts from 1650 meters and raises to an altitude of 4180 meters. Although the climb is tiring at some moments but one gets rewarded by beautiful green meadows, quaint villages, views of snow-covered mountains and the amazing slide after the pass. This trail offers a gamut of experiences to trekkers. The trek demands a level of fitness and the minimum age is 14 years to participate.

8999/- per person from Kasol to Kasol                 


Day 1: Travel from Delhi to Manali. (Participants will reach delhi by their own).  Board semi sleeper Volvo bus from R.K.Ashram Marg, New Delhi by 5 PM for Manali.
Day 2: Report at Kasol. After freshening up and breakfast acclimatization walk to Chalal village. Post lunch orientation for the trek will be given. In the evening we will have an ice breaking session.
Day 3: The trek commences for Grahan from Kasol at 7 AM. The trek is moderate with normal gradient and steep ascend in the end for Grahan village. Overnight at Grahan in tents. Trek Duration: 6 hours. Level: Moderate.
Day 4: The trek from Grahan to Min Thach goes through some dense Himalayan Forest. We will start the trek by 8 AM. Overnight in tents at Min Thach. Trek Duration: 6 hours. Level: Moderate.
Day 5: The trek from Min Thach to Nagaru is short but steep and gets above tree line. Overnight stay in tents at Nagaru. Trek Duration: 4 hours. Level: Moderate.
Day 6: The trek from Nagaru to Biskeri Thach is a long trek via Sar Pass and goes through long snow patch. Trek Duration: 7 to 8 hours. Level: Moderate.
Day 7: Descend from Biskeri Thach to Barshaini takes around 5 hours and is a steep descend.
Day 8: Arrival at New Delhi by 9 AM.  


Day 1: Travel to Delhi. Departure from New Delhi by 5 PM for Kasol.
Participants will reach Delhi by their own. Participants have to board their bus from R K Ashram Marg, New Delhi at 5:00 pm. Make sure your train/flight arrives in Delhi before 1:00 pm so there is enough buffer time to board your bus. Meals are not covered during bus travel.

Day 2: Registration and Orientation at Kasol

We will get down at Bhuntar from the Volvo by 6 AM and will take other transportation for Kasol(32 kms from Bhuntar). Participants can use this day for acclimatization in Kasol by trekking till Chalal village. Orientation regarding the trek will be given which will cover information like Rucksack packing, marching technique and medical awareness after evening snacks. Participants have to submit NOC and Medical certificate to the coordinator in evening.

Day 3: Trek to Grahan village ( 6-7 hours)

Trek will commence at 7AM. Reporting place will be Namaste Café.  All the participants will have to be on time. The trek starts from the centre of Kasol and keeps to the true left of the Grahan nalah. The trail is easy and frequently used by locals.

The trail goes through lovely pine forests. The ascend is gentle and easy. One can effortlessly cover much distance in a couple of hours. After Grahan nalah the trail becomes rocky and climbing uphill, away from the right bank of the river. Buras (Rhododendrons) grows in the forest here. After a steep climb of about an hour, one reaches the village of Grahan, situated at the top. Overnight stay in tents at Grahan.

Day 4: Grahan to Min Thach ( 5-6 hours)

In the morning we climb towards the north of camping ground at Grahan. Villagers can be seen using this path for

Min Thach. After walking for a while, one can see Min Thach, Nagaru, and Sar Top on the mountain to the right. The trail also becomes steeper and leads into the woods. The slope becomes steeper and the path is confusing in some places. After crossing the forest we arrive to Min Thach. Overnight in tents at Min Thach.

Day 5: Min Thach to Nagaru (4 hours)

Trek from Min Thach to Nagaru  is a short but difficult part. The slope falls steeply to the valley. After crossing steep slope for a couple of hours, one finally reaches Nagaru campsite. Facing north, one can see magnificent mountains across the Parvati valley. Night is very cold due to the chilling wind.  It is advisable to sleep early to avoid cold and the next day involves an early start.

Day 6: Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass ( 7-8 hours)

Next day we have to make an early start, as the climb is steep through the snow. Sar pass and the elevated peaks of the Tosh valley are now visible.

As one reaches the top, the view is exhilarating. After that the slide is the most fun and completely safe as long as some precautions are taken. The slide takes one as far as a kilometre to a gentler slope of the valley. Valley arrives after walking for an hour from Sar Pass. We will then continue the trek through some dense rhododendron bushes  towards Biskeri Thach campsite. Overnight stay in tents at Biskeri Thach.

Day 7: Biskeri Thach to Barshaini and drive back to Kasol base camp ( 4-5 hours). Departure from Kasol.

Biskeri presents a sublime view of the pine forests, the majestic mountains and the lovely grasslands. From Biskeri we will descend towards Pulga village. The descend is easy and takes around 4-5 hours to reach Pulga. From Pulga we will continue to descend to cross Parvati river and then climb to reach village Barshaini.

Drive back to Kasol and departure for Delhi by 6 PM.


Day 8: Arrival at New Delhi by 9 AM.

Participants will have to manage own transport from New Delhi.


  • Stay for male and female are separate throughout the program.

  • Medical certificate, duly signed by MBBS doctor, is mandatory for participating in all the events.

  • Participation in any of the Himalayan trekking program require a level of fitness. One who is participating in any of such events should do a minimum of two weeks of preparation.

  • Trekking shoes is compulsory.

  • Participants should check “Things to Carry list” which includes all personal clothing and other trekking accessories.

  • Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.

  • Buying drugs or any illegal material is strictly prohibited. Participant found in possession of any of such items, will be detained and handed over to government authority.

  • Instructions from Guide should be strictly followed. 

Things to Carry

1. 3 trek t-shirts and 3 full trousers.

2. One-two thermal wear

3. One fleece/wind proof jacket

4. 2 warm jackets

5. One/two woolen cap/ head wrap/scarf

6. 4 pairs of socks and inner wears.

7. One pair of trekking shoes and sandals.

8. Sunglasses

9. Lunchbox

11. Toiletries

12. Head Lamp/Torches

13. Sun cream

14. Glucose, personal medical kit and mycoderm powder is recommended.

15. All the above items should be packed in a Rucksack.



1. Polyester T-shirts (full/half) and Quick Dry full length trousers are good options if the sun is out. In case if it’s cold, fleece, windproof jackets or any warm jacket should be put on. A minimum of 3 trek t-shirts, 3 trousers, 2 fleece/windproof/warm jackets are required for trekking.

2. Thermal wear are essential for the trek. One – two pairs are recommended.

3. Socks and Inner wears, minimum 4 pairs are recommended. It’s important that one changes his/her socks/inner wears each day.

4. Woolen cap, Head wrap or scarfs are important, as after sunset the temperature drops down drastically and it becomes very cold.

5. At least two warm jackets are important for the trek.

6. One Poncho/Raincoat is essential for the trek.



1. Gloves are important if there is snow in the trek.

2. Head Lamps or torches are handy and essential for the trek.

3. Lunch Box and water bottle is important.

4. Get your own Toiletries.



Trekking shoes are important for the trek. A good pair of trekking shoes should have good grip, ankle support and be waterproof. Make sure if you are buying a new pair of shoes, use it for 15 days before getting it on the trek. There are chances of blisters when using new pair of shoes.

• Medical Certificate (signed by a registered MBBS doctor)

The Kayakers will carry first aid kit all the day of trek. Still, every participant need to carry their personal medication.

Cancellation Policy

Option 1: Replacement

One Month Prior to Event Date: If you can manage to provide replacement for this trek then you will get 90% refund on trek fees (INR 13500).

Less than 30 day to 15 Days to Event date: If you can manage to provide replacement for this trek then you will get 70% refund on trek fees (INR 13500)

Less than 15 days to Event date: If you can manage to provide replacement for this trek then you will get 50% refund on trek fees (INR 13500) and flight charges will not be refunded.

Option 2: Refund

One Month Prior to Event Date: INR 10000

Less than 30 day to 15 Days to Event date: INR 8000

Less than 15 days to Event date: No Refund

If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc), The Kayakers will issue a trek voucher for the full amount. The voucher can be redeemed for the same trek or another trek in the next one year

I am aware that participating in adventure sports like kayaking, cycling, trekking, climbing and rappelling has some inherent risks of illness, injury or death. This may be a result of the negligence of others, myself, forces of nature or other agencies known or unknown. Rescue and medical services may not be able to reach me in time.

I hereby fully assume all risk of illness, injury or death, and  The Kayakers, its owners, employees, consultants, agents and associates from all actions, claims or demands from any damages resulting out of my participation in this sporting event. This obligation is binding upon me personally as well as on my heirs, executors, administrators, assigns and all members of my family.

I hereby authorize any medical treatment deemed necessary in the event of any emergency, injury or mishap. I agree to bear all costs of rescue and/or medical services that may be incurred on my behalf.

I recognize that as the provider of services, The Kayakers will operate under a covenant of good faith and fair dealing, but that it may be necessary to terminate any event or adventure excursion due to forces of nature, medical necessities or other reasons. I accept their right to take such actions for the safety of all participants including me.

I understand that though precautions will be taken to provide a safe and enjoyable experience, there can be no guarantee of absolute safety against illness, injury and/or accident and that there are grave and unpredictable elements of risk in any adventure, sport or activity associated with the outdoors.

I agree that any film or photographs of me as a participant becomes the property of The Kayakers and may be used for promotional and commercial purposes.




What should I wear during trek?
Full sleeves quick dry t-shirts and full trousers are recommended during the trek. A cap, sunglass and water proof jackets are optional as par the weather.

What kind temperature we will experience?
During the daytime temperature is within 15 to 20 degree Celsius while in night it drops to 0 to -5 degree Celsius.

How is the food?
The Kayakers offers a healthy and nutritious vegetarian diet which is recommended for high altitude treks. Jain food will also be available. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner is included in the package.

What kind of tents we will get to stay?
Participants will get either dome tent or alpine tent on triple sharing basis.

Are there separate tents for boys and girls?
Yes, there are separate tents for boys and girls.

What about charging facility during the trek?
During the trek there won’t be any charging facility available.

Do I need to bring any trekking gear along with?
Gears like tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, plate, mug, rucksack will be provide at the base camp to all the participants. Gears like all personal clothing, trekking shoes and pole have to be brought by participants. However, trekking poles are not that compulsory for the trek.

What do i need to carry during the trek?
Check “Things to Carry” list.

Is rucksack compulsory?
Yes, rucksack is compulsory.

Will there be any locker facility available to deposit extra luggage?
No there will not be any locker facility available.

Is it required to bring any ID proof during the trek?
Yes, ID proof is essential for the trek. Only Aadhar card/ Voter ID Card/ Driving License/Passport will be accepted.

Is Medical Certificate essential?
Yes, medical certificate is essential for the trek. On Day 1 all participants will have to sumbit their Medical certificate and NOC to the head guide during Orientation.

Are we going to get network during the trek?
You get network at few places like Nagaru and Biskeri Thach during the trek.

What are the risks involved in the trek?
Sar Pass is a moderate level trek and there are very limited/no risk scenarios involved in the trek. A hundred percent guarantee to the safety of all participants will be provided by The Kayakers, only if participants are following all the instructions given by guides.

What are the safety measures taken?
Guides who accompany the group members are certified from government mountaineering institutes and are expert in handling scenarios like medical issues or physical injuries. A first aid medical kit and rescue kit is always available with the guide.

Is Medical Certificate mandatory?
Yes, medical certificate is mandatory to participate in any trek.

Do i need to carry any first aid along with me?
The guides carry a first aid medical kit, oxygen cylinder and all high altitude mountain medicines required for the trek. If there is any personal medication, make sure that you are carrying medicines for it and the guide should be aware of it.

What kind of washroom facilties is available during the trek?
During the trek toilet tents will be pitched separately for boys and girls.

What about drinking water during the trek and at campsites?
Natural water sources like stream are used for drinking at campsites. It is very safe to drink the water.

Can i carry my DSLR?
Yes, one can carry his/her DSLR camera provided you take care of it against rain and shock.

Is trekking shoes compulsory?
Yes, trekking shoes are compulsory. A good trekking shoe should have an ankle support, good grip and water proof. In case if you are buying a new pair of shoes, make sure you are using it at least 15 days prior to the event.

Is liquor allowed in the trek?
No, liquor is strictly prohibited in the trek. Strict disciplinary actions will be taken if anyone is found with the possession of alcohol.

Is smoking allowed in the trek?
No, smoking is not allowed during the trek.

How is the level of the trek?
The level of trek is moderate. The trek demands both physical stamina and mental endurance. On who is participating should do few cardio work outs one month prior to the event.

How should i prepare myself for the trek?
One should do cardio related exercise like running, swimming or cycling for at least 40 minutes for 25 days prior to the event.

Is it recommended for the first timers?
Yes, the trek is recommended for the first timers also.

How is each days trek?
Each day the trek is of around 6 to 7 hours.

What are the campsites?
There are four campsites, Grahan, Ratta Pani, Nagaru before Sar Pass and Biskeri Thach after Sar Pass. All the campsite except Nagaru are below tree line.

What is the end point of trek?
The trek will end at Barshaini. Transportation will be provided till Kasol.

What is the best time for the trek?
The best time for the trek is from May  to Sep. From May to June one can find long snow stretches after Nagaru and slides while descending from Sar Pass. During the monsoon the place becomes green and full of flowers.

Are we going to get snow in the trek?
Yes, the trek from Nagaru to Biskeri Thach is entirely covered with snow.
