Hilley To Sandakphu Trekking

Sandakphu, the highest point in West Bengal, is amongst the most popular of trekking routes. While majority of the trekkers trek to Sandakphu via Manebhanjan or Dhotre, there is another less popular route barely taken. The trail starts from Hilley in West Sikkim and takes one to Sandakphu through Kalijhar and Phoktey Dara (3733 Mts). The trail offers excellent views to some of the magnificent and majestic mountain peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Makalu, etc. The trail leads through Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, which turns into a riot of colours when the flowers are in full bloom during April/ May and is famous for some of the most exotic bird species.
Dirtboots Adventure is going to organize trek from Hilley to Sandakphu in late April. The trek will commence from Hilley in West Sikkim and end in Srikhola in West Bengal via Kalijhar, Phoktey Dara, Phalut and Sandakphu.
