The FRCPath 2 Clinical Microbiology Support Group for International Students will meet from 3pm to 6pm UK time online every fortnight starting from Saturday 28 May 2022 until Autumn 2022 (around 8 sessions). Online access link will be sent to all participants. Please note that all sessions will be on Saturdays.
UK based faculties will cover topics that international students find difficult to address but are important for the success in FRCPath 2 Microbiology examination.
Salient features:
Lead by UK based faculty
Focus on critical appraisal, patient safety, clinical governance, public health as well as general clinical microbiology and infectious diseases
Structure of health system in the UK, role of the UK government, PHE, local public health units
Clinical Governance and risk assessment
Effectively answering clinical questions in the UK context
Skilful telephonic conversation (OSPE) between microbiologist and clinician
Infection control scenarios and governance in outbreak management
Signposting to various UK guidelines, healthcare laws
And…plenty of homework!
Zoom based sessions for up to 3 hours every fortnight on Saturdays
The teaching method will be less didactic and more interactive where participants will be expected to actively contribute.
