The FRCPath 2 Clinical Microbiology Support Group for International Students will meet from 3pm to 6pm UK time online on Saturday 27 May 2023 and then every fortnight on Saturdays until Autumn 2023 (6 regular sessions+ 1 revision session).
Online access link will be sent to all participants.
UK based faculties will cover topics that international students find difficult to address but are important for the success in FRCPath 2 Microbiology examination.
All sessions will be equally useful for part 1 exam too.
Salient features:
Lead by UK based faculty
Focus on critical appraisal, patient safety, clinical governance, public health as well as general clinical microbiology and infectious diseases
Structure of health system in the UK, role of the UK government, PHE, local public health units
Clinical governance and risk assessment
Effectively answering clinical questions in the UK context
Practice of skilful telephonic conversation (OSPE) between microbiologist and clinician
Infection control scenarios and outbreak management in UK context
Signposting to various UK guidelines, healthcare laws
And…plenty of homework!
Zoom based sessions for up to 3 hours every fortnight on Saturdays
Interactive teaching where participants will be expected to actively contribute in discussions
