Coastwise Flight of the Flamingos

Take a walk along our city’s rich mangrove ecosystem at the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre, Airoli. Enjoy a boat ride through a beautiful waterscape, which hosts different species of mangroves and a variety of avian life, including flamingos, gulls, terns and many different types of waders. Cap the day with an art workshop with Sefi George that explores mangroves and all they host.

Full Day Pass: A full day pass includes a mangrove walk + a flamingo boat ride + a marine art workshop + lunch and a guided visit to the centre. The event is at the Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Centre in Airoli with a beautiful exhibit and audio visual displays.

Event Schedule

Tea/Coffee - (11:30 AM to 12:00 PM)

Marine Art Workshop with Sefi George (12:00 PM to 1:30 PM - 1st half, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM - 2nd half )

This Marine themed collage workshop will guide you step by step to create your own mangrove paper creatures. From the basics of understanding how to draw animals with simple shapes, to painting, cutting, and arranging paper to make their forms, this workshop will teach you some fun and unique art techniques that have various applications (including illustration and stop motion animation too!)

Lunch (1:30 PM to 2:00 PM)

We break for lunch (included in the pass), after which you can choose to visit the centre or take a break before the art workshop.

Mangrove Walk (3:30 PM to 4:00 PM) & Flamingo Boat Ride (4:00 PM to 5:00 PM)

On this guided walk along mangrove and mangrove associate trees you will learn more about their ecology and role in protecting our coastline. Also learn about animals that inhabit this ecosystem and what makes it so unique.

We will go on a boat ride in Thane creek to look at our beautiful winter visitors, the Flamingos, in their habitat.

- Tickets once booked are not refundable, and are not transferrable to any other event.

- The organisers will not be responsible/liable for the loss or theft of any personal belongings, or any injury/illness that the ticket holder may accrue at the event(s).

- Smoking, drinking and recreational drug use are strictly prohibited at all the events.

- Any inappropriate behaviour by any participant shall lead to eviction from the event(s).

- On the above terms, the organiser reserves the sole right of admission to each event.

- We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the starting time at each event.
