About Divya Susan
Divya is an accredited Intercultural communications trainer with Itim International, Helsinki and a scholar in Advanced Studies in Intercultural Communications at the University of Lugano, Switzerland. She offers cross-cultural communications training to participants who wish to
1. understand cross-cultural differences and adopt a sensitive and respectful approach to "the other",
2. understand "the other's" mindset with an emphasis on the role of the dimensions of hierarchy, group relations, value systems, need for structure, long term orientation, direct and indirect communication, cyclical view of time, gratification of needs, etc.
Her approach to the training is an interactive one - starting from the individual and traversing the group. Prior to the training, individual participants are given a fifteen minute survey, which helps them realise their own cultural predispositions through value statements. The survey results are provided to participants in an extensive report. The session itself comprises of interactive simulation exercises, case studies, videos and role plays, where participants not only understand the dimensions of cultural differences, but open their minds to those different from themselves.
