About the Event

Cyclorun is an event which is being organized (this year) by two chapters of Chennai Runners – KS (Kilpauk Striders) and MFC (Mogappair Fitness Circle), to promote the benefits of a healthy life through an exciting competition. It involves running / cycling and over short distances while at the same time solving some interesting clues.

What is the format of the event?

It is a fun competition wherein you as a Team should solve certain clues and reach certain places within a specific period of time. It is a team event wherein you will come as a team which involves One Cyclist and a few Runners. You will have to use both mind and body to reach certain goals within a specified time. It will show you your own fitness levels and the necessity of a fitter you.

Who conducts it and Why?

Chennai Runners is a not-for-profit club started in 2006 by a handful of enthusiastic runners. The club, and has been instrumental in popularizing running as a route to wellness through various chapters spread throughout the city. This event is conducted by Chennai Runners, along with two of its chapters, CRKS and MFC.

This is being conducted to showcase to the society the benefits of Running and how important it is, that you start a Fitness Training regime. It is through such events that a major chunk of our members have realized and joined the fitness community and today are relishing the wonderful benefits of a healthy body achieved at a negligible cost.

How Much does this even Cost? Why Charge at all?

It Costs Rs. 500/- per team to participate. For Rs. 500/- you will get the following:-

a.            A Rent-Free cycle to participate

b.            Sumptuous breakfast

c.            A Finishers Medal

d.            Most important (for the uninitiated) - A glimpse into the world of fitness which will not add years to your life but will add life to your years!

What is the total duration of the event?

Each team will be provided exactly 75 minutes from the start time. Bonus points shall be awarded for teams finishing within 75 minutes. There are negative points for every minute that the team takes after 90 minutes.

What is the completion criteria?

Each team will be given a set of clues to complete and a set of places to reach / targets to achieve within 75 minutes. Teams are required to complete it all and reach the finish desk. The condition here is the team has to reach the finish desk together with all its members. Different Members cannot come at different times. You will have to come as a team.

Since this event involves time AND solving clues / achieving targets, the team that arrives first may not necessarily be the winner.  The maximum points scored by each team based on solving the clues and on time decides the winner.

Can mobile be used for solving the clues?

Yes. Mobile can be used to communicate/coordinate with the team members, but cyclists are strictly advised NOT to use a mobile while cycling without a headphone. If we find a cyclist using a mobile phone without a headphone, he / she will be disqualified immediately

What is the minimum age eligibility for participating in this event?

All the participants should be minimum of 15 years as on 24th February 2019 with three of them must be 18+ years.If the team consists only three members then all of them must be 18+ also the cyclist must be 18+.

Is there any upper age limit for each race?

No. There is no upper age limit

How many total members can we have in each team?

Minimum of 3 members & Maximum of 5 members per team is allowed.

What is team composition be like?

A team must consists of only one cyclist, and at least one female participant. More than one cyclist can’t be part of the team.

Will cycle be provided by the organizers?

Yes cycle will be provided by the organizers provided you choose the option during registration.

Cycles will be provided to the team captain upon submission of his/her government issued original photo-id card and address proof.

The same shall be returned back at the time of returning the cycle.

When and where will be the Bibs can be collected and provided for the event?

Bibs will be provided at the registration desk on the event day (24th Feb 2019) at the event venue.

Race Support and Hydration

The venue and the route will have ample water & aid stations.

We will also have a team of doctors at the venue to take care of emergencies. In addition we will have route marshals supervising at route on feet / cycles / motorcycles, to guide participants as well as check if rules are being adhered to. First aid kits will be available at all Aid stations as well as with the route marshals

Prizes

Three prizes shall be awarded based on the points scored by the respective teams and the decision taken by the jury team will be final.

No. Requests for entry will not be entertained after last date of registration.

By submitting the form, I hereby declare that I and my team are physically fit to participate in this event and have attained all necessary physical examination by a registered medical practitioner.

I acknowledge that participating in this event may carry some risk to my health. I release the organizers from any liability or any loss or injury which I may suffer while participating in the race. I have read and understood all the “RULES & REGULATIONS” and all the information provided by me in the registration form is correct. Further, I grant full permission to the organizer and all associated organizations to use all event material including photographs and videotape for publicity and advertising purposes without any compensation.
