Event Information

Would you like to visit the resting place of a Sufi saint who has gone to a bathroom for more than 500 years and is yet to return? Do you know where Lalkot is? Chances are, you don't. Welcome to the City of Mystery- Lalkot! This trip will be one of the best adventures you would have ever undertaken while being in Delhi.

We will walk through bushes and trees to reach the lost, ancient city of Lalkot. And if you are lucky, you will be welcomed by pythons and wild foxes when you reach the 1000-year-old walls of this mysterious city. Lalkot vanished from the maps of Delhi one fine day in 1192 AD when the Turks captured the city from the Tomars and Chauhans. What we now see are the forlorn walls that are waiting to tells their cities to anyone who cares. Legends say that the mighty Chauhans ruled Delhi from this place.

One of them was the famed Prithviraj Chauhan who struck fear in the hearts of the Afghans and Turks. It is said that he defeated Mohammad Gauri seventeen times in the battlefield. This Chauhan possessed a special skill. What was that? He also courted a very beautiful lady of his times but her father resented this handsome Chauhan. Did that love prosper or was it doomed? And what about one of his ministers who used to hang two lemons, one from each side of his moustache? Why did he do it and what was the promise that this minister had taken? We will also visit the ancient temple of Yogmaya located in the vicinity.

These and many other stories await us when we meet each other on this not to be missed walk!
