Makalidurga is a hill which is located near a village by the same name around 60 km from Bangalore. What makes a trek to this hill special is the fort perched atop the hill and the railway line at the base.
Standing tall at a height of 1,117 meters, Makalidurga is a hill that offers stunning panoramas and a glimpse of the local history to the people who go hiking. It is around 60 km away from Bangalore & is one of the best treks to do near Bangalore. Trekkers usually start the trek at the Makalidurga railway station and walk for around 2 km along the railway track and then take a left turn near a temple from where the actual hiking trail starts. It is an easy trek to do and doesn't take much time. At the peak of the hill are the ruins of a fort and an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
