Role of Microbiologist starts from the very moment a patient enters the hospital. Clinical Microbiologist is a key doctor in the management and prevention of infections in hospitalised patients.
This workshop is organised by Clinical Microbiologists trained in UK and practising at eminent centres of excellence in UK and India.
The workshop will introduce you to the concenpt of establishing clinical microbiology as it is practised in UK and other European conuntries. The workshop will cover management of positive blood culture, CSF and other sterile body fluids, what clinical advised to give to a clinician based on preliminary and final results, how to conduct ICU/PICU rounds, antibiotic ward rounds, how to chose best antibiotics for syndromic and specific managment of organisms, how to manage resistant organisms (ESBL, MRSA, CPE etc.) in immunocompromised, solid-organ and bonemarrow transplant patients, how to investigate outbreaks on intensitve care and other units and how to manage needle stick injuries.
This one-day workshop is specifically orgnaised to train Indian Microbiologists in the diagnosis and management of difficult to treat infections and more importanlty to bring them out from their laboratories and equip them to confidently carry out ward rounds!
