Singer-songwriter and drummer Aarifah’s journey began simply with a fascination for innovative storytelling. With narrative influences from genres such as folk, soul, and country, her past releases like ""Now She Knows"", ""Anyway"" and ""Past Tense"" (EP) reflect just that. As she discovered alternative rock artists like OK Go and Hayley Williams who expanded sound, art and stories with imagination, Aarifah was inspired to use her artistry as a vessel to hold
space for catharsis, creatively processing the release of emotions through introspection and her DIY spirit.
“My art is intimate, raw, and brave — the kind that softly packs a punch when required.”
The set I’m performing at Depot is something I’ve always wanted to do — a looper set. Why? Because to me, life is a series of memories being relived over and over again and only until we fully understand and internalize those experiences, are we able to deepen our lives and grow.
When I think about looping, I see that same process mirrored in sound. The first loop, when it repeats, can feel repetitive or even annoying — but as you add new layers, it transforms, becomes fuller, more meaningful, and somehow the original phrase feels elevated.
This performance is also about embracing all parts of who I am — a quiet and shy storyteller : the singer, forever confused and awkward : the guitarist, and my strengths within my assumed weaknesses : the drummer — the instrument that started it all
Disclaimer - I will be taking this same set on tour next year. This is the chance to see it first before social media and the rest of the world!
