Pipes to Stack

Pipe Stack can be described as the vertical component of a drainage system in plumbing that includes waste, soil or vent pipe that runs through a single or multiple stories of a structure.

Stack pipes are used to drain water. All wastewater should be sent to sanitation sewers and septic tanks. In the absence of a proper design of stack pipes could cause leakage of harmful gasses into the structure.

The different types of plumbing system

Plumbing is a method of transferring fluids to support a variety of purposes. Plumbing makes use of valves, pipes and tanks, plumbing fixtures as well as other equipment and materials to transfer fluids.

The plumbing system in the building is classified primarily by the kinds of plumbing systems employed in the plumbing drainage system of the building. There are four kinds of plumbing systems;

  1. Single stack system
  2. One pipe system
  3. The one pipe is that is partially ventilated
  4. The two pipe system

1. Single Stack System

For a one stack method, there's one vertical soil pipe which is fixed, and all the waste material that comes from the kitchen bathroom and the water closet discharges into it.

One pipe is included within this system which also serves as an exhaust pipe. Single stack systems are cost-effective however the performance of the system will depend on its water sealing.

2. One Pipe System

In the single-pipe system there is a second vent pipe, which is provided along with the pipe for waste disposal.

The single-pipe system is more effective compared to a one stack method. The vent pipe is different and provides venting for the seals on all traps.

In this system, one soil pipe with all debris of the bath, sink and water closets are disposed of in the pipe.

3. One Pipe Partially Ventilated System

In the one-pipe systems that are partially ventilated, an intermediate arrangement between the single-pipe system and single stack system.

In this system too, there is just one soil pipe through which all contaminants in the water closets sink and baths are discharged to this pipe.

The windpipe is also used to provide air circulation to the traps in those water closets.

4. Two Pipe System

In the two-pipe system there are two pipes that are in use. One pipes is called a soil which is connected to soil fixtures like water closets and urinals.

Another pipe would be superior to the water pipe, which can be used for collecting water from the bath and kitchen.

In the two-pipe method, the waste pipe and the soil pipe are both equipped with vent pipes that are separate. There are a number of pipes needed to complete the 2-pipe setup.

Two-pipe plumbing is more costly when compared with other forms of plumbing.
