Yoga Nidra , A Practice for deep relaxation
Sleep is an important part of our daily routine. We spend about one third of our day's time sleeping. But quality sleep and at the right time is the most challenging part for everyone. There are two basic types of sleep, REM and Non REM sleep which is linked to specific brain waves and neuronal activity.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient Yogic practice which is very relevant in today's age. Often referred to as " Yogic Sleep " it is that state between wakefulness and the sleep state.
Yoga Nidra is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. This state of consciousness is different from meditation, in which concentration on a single focus is required. In Yoga nidra the practitioner remains in a state of withdrawal of the five senses with four senses internalised and the only hearing still connected to any instructions given.
