The 3rd race in the Hell Race Trail Series takes you to the exquisite views of the four 8000ers mountain peaks. The Buddha Trails, set in the forests of the Sandakphu region near Darjeeling, has got its name from The Sleeping Buddha which is what the Kanchenjunga range looks like. Sandakphu is the highest point in the state of West Bengal (at 3,636m) and the trek is quite famous among the masses.
The date 11th May is well chosen for the race as the time is quite suitable for the Rhododendrons and Magnolia blooms, giving the forest hues of pink and red. The runners will run on the Singalila Ridge which crosses into Nepal many times and the views are set to take the tiredness off your feet, metaphorically, such is the beauty of the region. Runners will see Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Kanchenjunga (4 peaks above 8000 meters) during the run.
