Our response to COVID crisis
The COVID crisis has led to nationwide distress due to immediate challenges with the delivery of healthcare services, and due to the loss of jobs and livelihoods of vulnerable communities, especially returning migrant laborers, impacting their dependent families.
Jagriti, with support from the local district administration, is providing immediate relief in the form of food and ration to the vulnerable communities, spreading awareness on preventive measures among the local communities, and supplying PPE kits for frontline health workers and health professionals.
While we have raised funds and provided ration and supplies to those who have expressed the need for it, we are now raising funds to scale up capabilities across the region by reaching out to more families in need.
Funds will be used for the following:
Food and ration supply: We are preparing kits of essentials (grocery and hygiene kit) for distribution amongst the families of migrants, daily wage workers, and other vulnerable members of the society. The kit will comprise of essentials - 6 masks, 5 hand soaps, 2 kg potato, 2 kg onion, 5 kg flour, 5 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 1-litre mustard oil, 1 kg sugar, and spices – needed for the next 15 days.
PPE Kit Manufacturing: Our groups of women, on request of local district administration, are now producing the PPE kit for the frontline health workers and health professionals. There is a huge requirement of around 15 Lakhs masks only for a district like Deoria.
Awareness on preventive measures: Jagriti has a group of 2000 digitally trained women with smartphones and data connectivity. We are training them to spread awareness through audio-visual content in regional language in the 7 districts and beyond. Post the lockdown, they will be doing village-to-village campaigns to further spread awareness.
As India fights and tries to mitigate the unprecedented consequences of the pandemic, we request you to support our cause by donating. The donors will get an 80G tax exemption certificate and monthly reports from us.
In such uncertain times, it is the strength and resilience of the civic society coming together to unify all efforts towards relief aid.
