4th RUN FOR VIVEKANANDA 12 January 2020 Sunday Juhu Chowpatty Mumbai

Vivekananda On Physical & Mental Strength, Fitness.

As Swami Vivekananda said, “strength is life, weakness is death.” Choose life. Cultivate physical strength. Make it a foundation for authentic inner peace, for cultivating higher qualities, confidence, and focus, and make it a shield against the winds of modernity that blow this way then that, ever-changing, always howling, always empty.

“First of all our young men must be strong. Religion will come afterward,” said Swami Vivekananda. “Be strong, my young friends; that is my advice to you. You will be nearer to Heaven through football than through the study of the Gita… You will understand the Gita better with your biceps, your muscles, a little stronger.”

" My child, what I want is muscles of iron and nerves of steel, inside which dwells a mind of the same material as that of which the thunderbolt is made.
Vivekananda About Making India World Leader

Dear Friends,
“One vision I can see clear as life before me that the ancient Mother has awakened once more, sitting on Her throne- rejuvenated, more glorious than ever. Proclaim her to the entire world with the voice of peace and benediction” thus proclaimed a great man. When India was in the clutches of imperialism, plagued by poverty, destitution and diminishing self-confidence, he went a step ahead and proclaimed that a resurrected India would be the leader of the world ( Jagad Guru Bharat)! That great soul was Swami Vivekananda.

He had visualized India’s preordained destiny of taking on the mantle of the world’s leadership. This would not only be in the realm of spirituality but also in every other sphere be it economic, political or social. He called for capacity building in science and technology. Influenced by Swamiji’s words, pioneer industrialist Sir Jamshedji Tata spearheaded the formation Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore alongside his famous steel plant. Sir JC Bose drew inspiration from his thoughts and went on to give India its rightful place in the world of science. Today, our advances in science and technology have made the world stand up and listen to us but Swami Vivekananda had asserted the need for capacity building a century ago.

“Every nation has a message to deliver, a mission to fulfill, a destiny to reach. The mission of India has been to guide humanity.” At Kanyakumari Swamiji realized India’s purpose- its message of spirituality, its mission to teach human beings the science of life- a destiny of wearing the crown of world leader. He spent his entire life in spreading this message.

Swami Vivekananda called for the awakening of India if at all the welfare of human kind was to be achieved.

Zero Plastic: The Need of Hour
The motive to the “Zero Plastic Marathon” is to aware all the stakeholders of our society for banning or minimizing the use of everyday plastics which is leading to the destruction of the environment. Vivekananda Youth Connect Foundation intends to increase the awareness on this grave issue. Our call is for the use of zero single-use plastics in our daily lives. We understand that, this goal cannot be achieved overnight; however, VYCF believes that it is utmost important for each and every one of us to make a good beginning and remain firm on this very important journey to plastic free planet.

VYCF has already initiated campaign Azadi and project Blue Sea to work towards permanent solution Mumbai coastline, seaface and beaches faces in four months of monsoon. We are determined to turn back Mumbai sea to blue which has become black because of severe pollution by Mumbai Nallas and Polluted rivers joining sea without any recycling and treatment, carrying millions of tons of plastic, industrial/chemical wast, untreated sewage making it dark black and most polluted in the world. We want central government, state govt. and local bodies to implement ten years curative and preventive plan to stop Mumbai sea pollution and a plastic disaster comes to Mumbai coastline every monsoon. This is not possible without public awareness and participation and strong will and determination by Govt. bodies to solve this problem.
