“The theater is the only institution in the world which has been dying for four thousand years and has never succumbed. It requires tough and devoted people to keep it alive.” – John Steinbeck
As John Steinbeck says, it takes tough people and real effort to keep theatre alive. The theatrists, as they are fondly referred to as, have been ideating and experimenting in theatre to keep it young and alive. Theatre has not only evolved but also transformed various forms as a result of collaborations between different cultures and art forms. In today’s times, with so many different theatre forms and schools, it is even more important to collaborate and learn from each other and continue to evolve.
Hence Rangamanthan - where thespians from various theatre groups (or complete newbies) come together and share their love for theatre, collaborate, and polish their skills - be they directors or actors or from production teams.
