Past/Present: Reinventing Heritage a live session on reviving, repurposing and updating heritage spaces in a conscious and transformative way with
Architect, Writer and Professor, University of Edinburgh Ed Hollis.
In this session, Prof. Hollis will explore key works of masters architects Carlo Scarpa and Geoffrey Bawa to show how they made very different uses of the pasts they found around them, in order to make very different futures. He will also reflect on ways that the models they developed for dealing with the buildings of the past have been challenged in more recent times by architects like Rem Koolhaas. Building on these international paradigms, Prof. Hollis will further examine ways in which architects are dealing with the past through particular projects in a number of Indian cities.
Join us for insights into how architects have contemporised heritage structures and delve into projects that challenge accepted wisdoms about the ways in which we live with the buildings of the past, and the ways in which we can use them to help build the future.
