About the Masterclass
The Third Battle of Panipat was more than what people usually imagine. It was a unique battle where Marathas from the Deccan fought on behalf of the Mughal Emperor to defend India, as the Marathas fought for “India for the Indians” while other major powers stood aside. Although they were defeated, their stand was seen as a moral triumph, and the Afghan victors withdrew, never fully reasserting their dominance. But what events led to this bloodiest battle of the 18th century? Why did a power from Deccan go up north to face the invasion? At #Panipat1761 – The Biggest Battle of the 18th Century, a masterclass by author and historian Dr Uday Kulkarni will explore and analyse the events that led to the Third Battle of Panipat and its aftermath.
