Niti Xtreme Ultra Run 2026: 

A Model for High-Altitude Endurance and Border Tourism

Organised By - Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board

Comprehensive Planning, Safety Protocols, and Community Integration for a Multi-Day Ultra Marathon in Chamoli, Uttarakhand.

Niti Valley

Niti Valley is a remote, high-altitude valley in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, close to the Indo-Tibetan (China) border. It’s one of the most untouched and scenic Himalayan regions in the country, known for its dramatic landscapes, ancient culture, and traditional mountain villages. 

The Niti Xtreme Ultra Run 2026 will be conducted on 31st May 2026 with different categories 75k, 42k, 21k, 10k, 5k (In subcategory, Open, 40+ age, 50+ age, 60+ age - Male, Female respectively)

75k Ultra Run Category -

It is only for Indians because Inner Line Permit is not available for foreign participants.

Participants who register in 75k ultra run will have to reach at Malari by 27th May, 2026.

Race Start Point - Rimkhim

Race Finish Point - Malari

Prior Experience for 75k Ultra Run: Certified Finisher of one 42k within last 10 months or two 21k finished within the last 6 months or finisher of Adi Kailash Ultra Run or 42k OR any Ultra Run Finisher within a year.

Cut off time - 14 hours for 75k

42k Run Category -

Foreign participants can take participation in in this category as Inner Line Permit is not needed.

Participants who register in 42k marathon will have to reach at Malari by 28th May, 2026

Race Start Point - Malari

Race Finish Point - Malari

Prior Experience for 42k Marathon: Any Runner who has completed any 21k High Altitude run within the last 6 months or completed two half marathons in the last 10 months.

Cut off time - 8 hours for 42k

21k Run Category - 

Foreign participants can take participation in in this category as Inner Line Permit is not needed.

Participants who register in 21k marathon will have to reach at Malari by 29th May, 2026.

Race Start Point - Malari

Race Finish Point - Malari

Prior Experience for 21k Marathon: Any Runner who has completed any 10k High Altitude run within the last 6 months or completed two 10k run in the last 10 months.

Cut off time - 4 hours for 21k

10k Run Category - 

Foreign participants can take participation in in this category as Inner Line Permit is not needed.

Participants who register in 10k run will have to reach at Malari by 29th May, 2026.

Race Start Point - Malari 

Race Finish Point - Malari

Prior Experience for 10k Run: Any Runner who has completed any 5k High Altitude run within the last 6 months or completed two 5k run in the last 10 months.

Cut off time - 2 hours for 10k

5k Run Category - 

Foreign participants can take participation in in this category as Inner Line Permit is not needed.

Participants who register in 5k run will have to reach at Malari by 29th May, 2026.

Race Start Point - Malari 

Race Finish Point - Malari

Prior Experience for 5k Run: Any Runner who has completed any 5k run within the last 3 months.

Cut off time - 1 hour for 5k 

Participant needs to carry any of these Id Proofs like Aadhar Card, Driving Licence etc. 

 Participant has to carry a Medical Certificate from any MBBS doctor for high altitude run (Validity - only 15 days prior the race starts).

Altitudes - Malari (3100 metre), Niti Village (3600 metre), Rimkhim (4340 metre)

The base camp for the entire event will be at Joshimath, Uttarakhand.

Joshimath to Malari, Transportation will be available (Participants will bear the expenses).

Accomodation and Food is available in the entire Niti Valley (Participants will bear the expenses).

Cancellation Policy 

More than 45 days before event: 75% refund of registration fee.

30–45 days before event: 50% refund of registration fee.

15–30 days before event: 25% refund of registration fee.

Less than 15 days before event: No refund.

A help desk will be set up at Joshimath.
